State of Non-Doing

We enjoy a program, we love to “do.”

What did you do over the weekend? What did you do last night? What are you going to do?

Even when we look at the polar opposite of doing, such as meditation, we still prefer to refer to it as a “practice” or a do.

There is I believe however, a true, deep art in non-doing. The ability to sit, observe, but not analyse.  Maybe in between tasks, or just when the analytical mind is not needed, both the body and mind can rest.

It creates a space of great potential. From which we can move, with renewed attention.

Of course, this opens up the discussion on technology, phones, social media etc etc (today’s “gap fillers”), but rather than going into that just now, maybe we leave it at that and close down the screen to just sit silently for a bit and not do.
